Having cleaned up more than a few old photos myself, I had a pretty good idea as to what you were doing.
That's why your efforts were appreciated more than just a little here.

Thanks again.

Permission has been given to archive the photos, credit to Marcus Bridle, Peter Lewis and Don Subritzky.

For anyone wondering why the listing was so slow to arrive, I do point out that it takes me a while to get from this

Hi FlyerNZ,

That is a fantastic job on that (and all the other) pics. How do you do it?

I would love to know the in's and out's as it has a relevance to all the images that I get sent.................

Cheers,

OMG, sorry flyernz, in my haste to look at the picture and compare it with the original, I completely overlooked the note regarding the permissions; do thank the Guys for me. I will now see what I can do to give them a permanent home. I'll think of something special that's for sure.

Many thanks from 'up North'............!

I have managed to untangle a few more Cats.

Firstly, Boeing PB2B-1 Catalina NZ4038.
Photo is dated 28Feb1948, prior to its reincarnation as ZK-AMP in December 1948.
In RNZAF service it carried the code PA-J, but this is not evident here.
There are two Short boats visible behind the Catalina, so I would say that the location is Mechanics Bay.

Image

Unknown (probably post-war) Catalina taxiing in the Waitemata Harbour. Obviously taken from the accompanying RNZAF tender.
The code seems to be PA, but is otherwise illegible.

Image

Formal parade at RNZAF Hobsonville May 1946.
Of interest is the collection of surplus Catalinas that have been dragged up from the hard and stored on the airfield.

Image

Surplus wartime aircraft stored on the non-operational side of Hobsonville.
From the left, a Douglas C-47, one of the four Sunderland MkIIIs, and a number of Catalinas. The front row of Cats include NZ4029, NZ4014 and NZ4026 so this would date the photo as around 1951 - 1952.

Big thanks, Peter for your contribution!!!

Do you know what was the NZ-serial Nr. for PA-P, here at Nantambu,1945?
I don't read it in your data list, David.

I have found a series of pictures about the recovery of NZ4051 after her TOA at EvansBay on natlib.govt.nz
