And two of the Samoan stamps shown above - of the DC-3 and the B-N Islander - aren't even seaplanes!

A new Gibraltar set features the Catalina. Spot the big error! What a shame that the artist should let himself down in such a big way! See what you think ;-)

Looks like -6A to me, not to mention what appears to be collector ring exhausts on the front of the engines.

Bang on the money Bill. It is a PBY-6A which of course the RAF never had.

To me it looks like an early PBY-5A with the tail of PBY-6A...
Either way, we can safely blame the artist

Morning Guys n Gals,

the good news is that my collection has now passed the 100 mark.

The bad news is that I still don't have either a scanner (to scan them in) or can afford to have my I-Mac checked out, so that I can copy and paste info again, which would allow me to photograph the stamps and then to use Photobucket.

It's a fabulous, and cheap hobby, that involves flying boats and float planes.

Nothing rare yet but thse of interwst to me are;

float planes from Chile
float planes from Finland
flying boats from Germany
flying boats from France
a lovely Sunderland from Uruguay
a fabulous China Clipper from Palau
a first day cover of the Maia composite that was flow in a Vulca in 1978!

What a great hobby.

Regards

Reggie
