The SEAWINGS website is down.......

Postby seawings » Sat Aug 05, 2017 9:03 am

Dear All,

My SEAWINGS website has experienced server failure at the hosts over the past 10 days, on and off, and whilst they are trying to fix it for me the site is coming and going - mostly going (!) as they do their work.

There is nothing I can do about it, everything at my end is working fine; it is definately THEIR issue and something I am chasing almost hourly, as you can imagine.

So, please bear with me and make sure that you can access this Forum by copy and pasting the Forum url (that bit in the top toolbar) into your browser to give you direct access rather than clicking the icon on the SEAWINGS front page.

I hope to get this isue resolved one way or the other very quickly, even if it means transferring to another hoster.

What was it you said Dogsbody? Oh yeah, 'shit happens'....I've just found out how big a turd is....Boy, am I p*ssed. :x

Hey Chris,

well, I have taken the plunge and paid out for a brand-new hoster.

The site is due to transfer over in the next few days and it should be seamless in that no-one will notice anything at all.

It's been coming for a while as the host I've been with has had poor reviews this year and getting worse.

Didn't want to spend the extra funds but in the end it will be worth it.

They have come very highly recommended and the package is top-notch state-of-the-art hosting.

Ho hummmm.....

Hi All,

Ok, the transfer of the SEAWINGS website to the new hosting company is now underway and will take a couple of days to complete.

There should be noything to see in actuality as it's all 'behind-the-scenes' techie stuff, but if anything does happen, rest assured I'm 'on it'.

BTW: don't forget to take a note of thei Forum's url - the code at the top of the page of your browser - so that you can still access this Forum without going to the icon on the SEAWINGS front page.

Nothing I'm doing will effect this Forum, so don't worry about that.

Mond you, I will have to find a home for it in the coming months as the note at the top of the Forum stills stands.

As soon as the transfer stuff settles down I'll let you all know,
Best Regards,

I have the forum as an entry in My Favourites. I just open that and click on whichever one I want to see.

Hey Dogsbody,

I wish it was that simple over here......

I'm going through all sorts of pc 'goobledeegook' trying to get this change over done.

One day, we will sit together - with a JD - and laugh about it.

Right now, I'm in 'pc hell'........

Isn't technology wonderful...

Hi All,

I'm pleased to say that my pc 'hell' ceased over this past weekend and all is well again in the SEAWINGS household...!

The SEAWINGS main site has been moved successfully to a new host and is working just fine now, fast, responsive and complete as far as I can tell. (BTW: If YOU find something not right, please let me know).

Also, I have moved the domain name to the new host.

All this has been excellent work on behalf of the new host, and awful leaving the old host; but, I knew some time ago that it was coming, the site had been down more times than I wanted it to be and other behind-the-scenes technical issues were causing me problems I didn't need. That's all gone now but I've had to stump-up for another year's hosting's fees, plus the domain transfer fee, but the good news is that a full-year's fee with the new company is cheaper than the old company..!

So, that's a plus that I wasn't expecting..!

I'm off to format another up-date with a grin on my face..!! ;)

Well done, and seamlessly from our perspective, I might add.
