There has to be a place on a floatplane column for the Fairey Swordfish. It not only helped to destroy the Italian navy but was one of the few biplanes, along with the Supermarine Walrus, to play an important part throughout World War Two.

There are several surviving examples, one i believe is in the Imperial War Museum London & a flying Stringbag belongs to the RNAS Museum, Yeovilton, Somerset. Also, off the top of my head, i think there may be one in Canada.
There is an excellent book by Lord Kilbracken about his life in a Swordfish "Bring Back My Stringbag" (Pan Books)
ISBN.330 26172 X. A hairy story.

There was a kit by SMER at 1/32 & Matchbox at 1/72.

Cheers. TASSE.

The BEST Stringbag kits in any scale are the Tamiya kits.
They've done a Mk.I on floats (Kit # 61071), they also do Mk.I and Mk II landplanes.
All have optional aftermarket Tamiya Photo Etch sets available.
A little finicky to put together, but absolutely beautiful when done.

Yes that kit is great.

Did the matchbox kit come with floats?

There is also the Merit kit from way back, nice box.

Has anyone built the tamiya one.
