The Super 71 is in the final stages of restoration in the Western Canada Aviation Museum in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
There was only 1 Super 71 built and 2 Super 71Ps, the surviving 71P is in the same museum.
Super 71 specs.
Crew 1 and 8 pax.
Engine 520 hp P&W T1D1 Wasp. (R-1340)
Span 58'.
Length 38' 8".
Height 16' 5".
Wing area 392 sq. ft.
Max speed 136 mph.
Cruise speed 121 mphLanding speed 65 mph.
Rate of climb 800 ft/min.
Range 817 miles.
In water flying attitude is everything

Thank you Mr W.
I always thought that this aircraft would make a great flying model at, say, 1/4 scale. but what put me off was the small fin and rudder,although i have not read anything that tells of problems with the real aircraft.

The Super 71p was the military version with the cockpit up-front and the wing faired in to the top of the fuselage.
