Hi Richard

Thanks for posting those.

The RNZAF (Royal New Zealand Air Force) had four aircraft transfered (Mk III's)
from 205 Sqadron in Singapore to RNZAF No 4/5 Squadrons.
They arrived at Lauthala Bay late 1941 (between Oct-Dec).

They were
K 6912 RNZAF Codes OT-A
K 6916 RNZAF Codes OT-D
K 6917 RNZAF Codes OT-B
K 6918 RNZAF codes OT-C
None of the above were issued RNZAF serials

K 6916 was written off December 1941 after a bad take off
K 6917 OT-B was SOC in November 1942, was sold off as a house boat

The remaining two were eventually SOC in 1943, and scuttled
in 300 feet of water at Lauthala Bay .
(SOC= struck off charge)

Interstingly when they were due to be scrapped, a bulldozer was to be used to break up
the aircraft, when push came to shove the bulldozer blade placed against the wing of one
of the Singapores just slide along the leading edge, such was the sturdiness of these aircraft.

Our leading Pacific air ace Geoff Fisken was sent to Singapore to train on flying the
Short Singapore, but did not like it and eventually transferred to fighter training.

Some photos at Lauthala Bay:

K 6912 OT-A, you have posted already
