Continuing our conversation from Flickr
"Q....Is this definitely G-AFCI Golden Hind? I'm trying to figure out when it was in camouflage...this seems to be before it was fitted with a tail gun turret. Do you have the location/date? A great find anyway!
A....I cannot say for sure which 'G' Class 'boat this is as there is no date or information on the photograph, which comes from the Goodfellow collection with the RAeC Trust. I don't recognise the sheds, but they do not like either Hythe or Hamble."

I'm wondering if it's Belfast (or Rochester?). As far as I know the large Union flags were applied to BOAC boats after Captain James survey trip to Las Palmas in autumn 1940 when the Spanish reportedly mistook the red white blue stripes on BOAC C-class boats for French markings...the G-class boats received tail turrets prior to RAF service (1941) so this photo must have been taken just before it got a turret....... Well the roof line does not look like Rochester and I don't have a clue what the Belfast works looked like. What facilities did IAL have when operations moved to Poole?
