Trivia test

Postby mdwflyer » Tue Oct 21, 2014 6:09 am

I just received some neat old documents on CD.

Q: How many Scan 30's did McKinnon-Hickmann buy? Who and or where did they come from?

Part 1 is pretty easy, I was surprised by part 2.

Anyone?

Okay, since nobody else wants to play.
McKinnon bought SCANS # 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30 in 1955 from Centravia SA in France.

Geez Bill, where did you come up with Centravia? I hadn't done any research, but was under the impression somebody had brought the airframes to California, and distributed them out to whomever wanted.

Nice work!

I knew McKinnon bought 4 or 5 SCANs, but I had to check Fred Knight's book for the seller (& hull numbers).
Lee Mansdorf bought a bunch of SCANs from a couple sources in France & Canada and imported them to his shop in California.
