No, the gear was up and it's up in the photo (look closely, you can see the hub cover) and during the video.
Looking at the vid. at about 7 min. you can see the wheel well and it's all black, no sign of a strut.
They flew it off on the hull, no wheels.
That's why the guy was hanging onto the right float, to keep the left wing (now minus the float) out of the snow.

The Widgeon always had hyd. gear.
