Nice find.
Other photos of it were posted earlier in the C/N list/post.
At the time of your photo it was still owned by Lana Kurtzer (Kurtzer Flying Service) of Seattle, Washington.
He had owned it for well over 35 years and had trained and checked out countless pilots in it on their way to a multi-engine land and sea rating.
After Lana retired it was sold to Sitka Sound Seafood who kept it about 5 years, it then changed hands again and went to a private owner who did a very thorough and (VERY) expensive rebuild.
It was rolled out amidst great ceremony and hoopla about 1994.
He only kept it another year or two before selling it to someone else (at a financial loss), it's still on the register and flying.

I should make mention, this picture was digitally rendered from a slide that I acquired awhile ago.
Processed in England in August of 1983.

Photographer is not noted.

That's Lana alright.
He was one very dour old Norwegian with a temper and a tongue.
I only had the misfortune to cross his path once (& that was a few times too many).
Not long after I moved to Seattle I stopped at his base to ask if I could take a few pictures of the airplane, bad move.
He not only told me WHERE to go, but how to get there and what transfers to make, I never went back.

Is it just me or does he have more than a passing resemblance to Lee Marvin...?

To me, as a picture, it is art...

Norwegians have their Viking roots calling to them, but if they are "settled down" there must be an awful lot of pent up agression in some of them ...
