ZK-CFA flies again

Grumman G.44A Widgeon ZK-CFA c/n 1439 took to the air again on 1 Novemmber 2022 after an extensive restoration.
Currently the only airworthy Widgeon in the southern hemisphere.

This Widgeon has been in New Zealand since 1963.
Intially operating with NZ Tourist Air Travel to passed through the hands of Mt Cook Air Services, Sea Bee Air and Aquatic & Vintage Airways it was withdrawn from use around 1996 having clocked up 18117hrs.

Restored over some years by Grant Harnish it is seen here earlier this month at Omaka Airfield, Blenheim where it sat out the Easter 'Classic Fighters' air display before departing south to Te Anau for a floatplane gathering the following week.
