I did not copy word for word from the book, "The Grumman Amphibians" by Fred J. Knight and Colin R. Smith but just kinda followed the life of the Grumman G-44 / G-44A / Scan Type 30 Widgeons registered in Canada and what happened to them and where they are now.
I started at the beginning of the c/n numbers, that's right, they were called construction numbers, not serial numbers but to simplify it, I will call them s/n's since most refer and call them serial numbers.

Well I lied!! the above is copied in its entirety and I did it to show all what is shown in the book and to let you see how some of these aircraft are sold and resold and resold etc. If you count the owners you should come up with (22) with s/n 1210. I also copied the next one (s/n 1213) in its entirety again to let you see how some of these aircraft flew from owner to owner to owner etc. etc. If you count them up it should be 29 different owners. In both these two aircraft there are some owners that are what I call "flippers", a flipper is a person/company, let's call him/it "B". Ok, B hears that A has an aircraft for sale, he also known that C is looking for an aircraft like A has. He buys the aircraft from A and (of course) marks it up and sells it to C. Hey! its called free enterprise.

On 1956-05-22 the aircraft took off on a non-scheduled flight from Kemano, B.C. to Kitimat, B.C. with the pilot and two passengers. Before take-off at Kemano the pilot had been requested to look out for a missing man who might have been on a beach between Dorothy Island and Hopkins Point. The aircraft was observed in the vicinity of Dorothy Island, apparently making the search as requested, and when last seen was heading North over Hopkins Point. When the aircraft failed to arrive at Kitimat a search was begun. The wreckage was found about 8hrs later submerged in 35 feet of water, about 100yds., from the West shore of Eagle Bay, B. C. The pilot, Victor Deeks 28 and the two passengers, Angus Landcaster Chalmers 43 and Harold C. Casey 34 were dead and the aircraft destroyed. The wreckage was salvaged but the starboard wing and engine were not found. Both the rudder trim tab indicator and the trim tab were set for full left rudder, perhaps indicating a loss of power on the starboard engine. The undercarriage was locked down, but no evidence of malfunction could be found in the aircraft and engine controls. Cancelled from CCAR: 1956-06-18.
