Closing my Photobucket account

Postby MrWidgeon » Thu May 02, 2019 7:47 pm

I'll be closing my Photobucket account near the end of May when they demand I pay for more storage.
I can't afford that, so I will lose about 2/3rds of my posted images. I don'r know which ones I'll be losing so I'm just going to shut the account down.
This means all of the images I've posted here will also go away, so if there's anything you want to save you better get hot.
I'm going to investigate new hosting services, but from what I've seen and heard all of them are charging for storage space now and I don't have the money for that.
I'm sorry it's come to this, but corporate greed and shareholders seem to rule now and i refuse to play along.

Well, that sucks! I'm doing the same with Photobucket but I downloaded all my PB images back onto my 'puter 2 years ago, after they tried to hold all our picture for ransom. I then went to Flickr and replaced most if not all my posted pictures on this forum. I know that Flickr now charges you if you have over 1000 images stored, but it's only $35.00 CDN per year. That works out to about the same as buying one drink at Starbucks once a week.

I also have a free Village.Photo account that works pretty well. I've only got about 50 images on there.

Personally, I think the days of free image hosting are just about over. It will either cost a bit or you'll be so overrun with ads as to make the site practically
useless.

Due to some help from a GOOD FRIEND, I've paid the blackmail fee and will keep my Photobucket page for another year.
All images will remain up and without that annoying logo plastered all over them.
