Duck Interior

Postby oceanskimmer » Sat Jul 25, 2009 7:09 pm

Hi

Never seen a photo of the interior of the lower passenger compartment, seen a cut away but this area is not covered.

Please does anyone have any photos of this.

Thanks

Bill, did you ever find those photos of the interior of a Duck? That was in 2009!

Uhhhh, yeeah, thanks for reminding me.
The first 2 are original cockpit photos with the lower compartment set up for target towing & photography.
The new photos are of a restored airplane and are more inline with a passenger set up, 2 seats facing aft and 1 facing forward.
The forward seatbacks are just visible in the last shot.
This is different from the cutaway shots of the JF mock up.

That gray seat looks like it is sitting right down in the bilge right against the bottom of the hull. Must have made for a jarring ride when landing on or taking-off from the water!

Working on Airfix 1/72 model which directs entire interior to be painted zinc chromate green. Makes perfect sense for passenger cabin to be white instead.
Question: would original 1940s USCG plane's cockpit proper be grey like here, something else, or that green stuff?

For any J2F-6 (which is what the Airfix kit is) the cockpit, front & rear, would be interior green.
The passenger compartment below would be aluminum paint.
Seats would be pans to accommodate a seat pack parachute.
