Thanks for posting that Tony. I had just seen it on another forum this evening too. Horribly reminiscent of the destruction of Dublin's Catalina VP-BPS.

Story was posted on WIX two and a half months ago - right after it happened and was published on the WarbirdNews.com Web site.

Proper ID regarding Grumman OEM serial or "construction" number includes "G-" prefix for all Albatross series aircraft - as in G-344.
Was built as USAF model SA-16A, USAF serial no. 51-7253.
