Short Singapore III details wanted

Postby seawings » Thu Nov 21, 2019 8:25 pm

Hi All,

Has anyone got any references showing the interior of a Singapore III, please..?

Anything will help as it seems this 'boat was the poor cousin to all the others as I can't find much on it at all..!

I have a number of good contacts wishing to build scale models but the distinct lack of much intereior detail, particularly photos and plans, manual pages, etc etc is holding everything up.

I look forward to hearing about anything in due course, hopefully...!

Cheers,
Best Regards,

Last operated by the Royal New Zealand Air Force, but their examples were RAF cast-offs which were flown from Singapore to Suva when the Japanese attacked.

They never made it to New Zealand and were disposed of in Fiji (as far as I am aware, they were all eventually scuttled in Fijian waters).

Have you considered contacting the RNZAF Museum at Wigram, Christchurch to ask if they have any photographs of the Singapore flying-boats?

They have a really extensive photographic collection and you never know your luck until you try…
