Short Singapore - questions & help needed....!

Postby seawings » Tue Sep 29, 2009 7:17 pm

Re the Short Singapore Mk III

Here's a hard one for you all:

Questions:

1) Does anyone know if there are any pictures of the interior of this 'boat? (I have the cut-away that was released some many years back by the way, but very few interior pictures)

2) Does anyone have pictures or any other reference material appertaining to the rear gun position?

3) Does anyone have anything????????????

4) Are there any scale plans that are accurate?

I'm seriously looking at my Contrail kit with winter coming and I'm so ashamed that I have bugger all on one of my favourite 'boats.
Best Regards,

Yes, there are some interior photos. No, I don't have copies (yet!)

I saw some in the Royal Aeronautical Society library in London. I think there were three or four. Just be careful that you get the MkIII - there are some MkI interior shots (of Alan Cobham's aircraft). The internal structure of the MkIII shows a construction very like a Sunderland with the Z shaped stringers. I don't think that the library had them identified other than as Short Singapore, you'd need to check carefully.

As for other things, I'll have a look at what I might have filed.

Cheers

I've got a copy of Aviation News from years ago with the Warpaint Short Singapore feature. It has some large, quite plain three-view drawings which I can try to scan and e-mail. They don't have as much detail as the drawings above but might form a good base layer for your profile.

When you say hi res, how high? How many pixels wide do you want?
