Century 'Sea Devil'

Hello Seawings

I have seen an article in the EAA Vintage Airplane magazine (12 Dec 1994), and a brief entry in Popular Mechanics (date unknown), about an amphibian flying boat (aka the 'Sea Devil'), under construction by the Century Aircraft Corp in Chicago circa early 1930's . There is also a very brief entry on the Aerofiles website.

If anyone has any extra information about the aircraft's history, no matter how small, it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Ray

Maybe this book could be of some help (but unfortunately, I don't have it) :

Hello geofferybe

Thank you for the link to the book. I was aware of it but unfortunately do not have a copy. It looks to be an excellent reference source, judging by the online extract.

Having said that, the first chapter - Early Era:1912-1928 - makes no mention of the Batson Aero Yacht, which appeared (but did not fly) in 1913. The fact that it was a DNF may have been a reason for its exclusion ?

Cheers, Ray
