Catapult details urgently required......

Hi All,

You may have seen on the 'Mother-Site' - SEAWINGS - I have just added a section in the Ships Gallery on the subject of catapult details of those carried aboard HM Capital ships.

The problem is that (1) this is actually all I have on the subjetc, and there must be a lot more 'out-there' and (2) I have nothing on the other flying boat/amphibious/ seaplane carrying navies of the world. Absolutely nothing. France, Germany, USN, Japan etc - all at some point carried both seaplanes and amphibious craft.

So, this is a plea for help; do YOU have any details, plans, pictures, drawings, articles showing the type of detail that scale modelers and enthusiasts would crave?

Bryan - there is a book Catapult Aircraft - seaplanes that flew from ships without flight decks by Leo Marriott and published by Pen & Sword that may be of interest. No plans of catapults but plenty of photos of seaplanes upon them. See http://www.pen-and-sword.co.uk/Catapult ... ack/p/1254

David, Hi, I have that book but didn't want to scan anything from it to use on the site.

But, you know, I think there is a dearth of ready information on the actual catapults and their surrounding equipment and mountings. Strange that, when you consider all the info on guns and other fittings.

I can lay my hands on plans etc for a McTaggart Scott co ltd catapult from 1933 and may be able to make copies (I cannot recall whether they were manageable size or 'bedsheets'). I believe this was a design for ship use but would have to check. Its along the lines of the one in Longshot's post above
